Economic History Association

Economic History Association is an organization founded in 1940, dedicated to "encourage and promote teaching, research, and publication on every phase of economic history, broadly defined".

The association publishes The Journal of Economic History with Cambridge University Press, and holds an annual meeting.

The association support research through Arthur H. Cole grants-in-aid.

It awards several prizes for publications:

• the Arthur Cole Prize for the best article published in the Journal each year
• the Alice Hanson Jones prize for the best book published biennially in American economic history
• the Gyorgi Ranki prize for the best book published biennially in non-American economic history.
• the Alan Nevins prize for the best dissertation in American economic history
• the Alexander Gerschenkron prize for the best dissertation in non-American economic history.
• the Jonathan Hughes Prize for superior teaching.

The association is located in Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. Its current president is Naomi Lamoreaux from the University of California, Los Angeles.
